How to Breed Armadillos in Minecraft 1.21

Armadillos may be cute, but the food they eat would make most puke! Today, we explore how to breed armadillos in Minecraft 1.21, including where to find their favorite food and why the effort is worth the exciting new loot.

Armadillos in Minecraft 1.21 love spider eyes, and thankfully, they are easy to find. Simply wait until night and hunt all the spiders nearby. Alternatively, the eyes of poison spiders in mineshafts will also do just fine. No specific numbers are required, but it is best to gather at least two.

Finding Armadillos

Armadillos spawn in groups of two to three in the savanna, savanna plateau, or windswept savanna biomes. These biomes are all fairly common and should be found by wandering about if one is not already nearby.

Once the biome has been located, Armadillos will soon be present as well. They are not as common as the usual cows, pigs, and chickens, but they are not rare by any means either.

Like most other mobs, armadillos are bred by feeding a specific kind of food to two nearby armadillos. In this case, the food is spider eyes, as odd as that may seem. After feeding a spider eye to two nearby armadillos, a baby armadillo will appear alongside some exp.

Every five to ten minutes, your new armadillos will drop an item called armadillo scute, which is used to craft wolf armor. Brushing an armadillo with the brush tool also results in this item. A farm similar to a chicken egg farm is recommended as armadillos drop no other items, even on death.

Hopefully, more uses will be added in the future!
