Overview
Forge is a widely used modding platform for Minecraft. It acts as a mod loader, allowing players to install and manage mods easily. Forge provides a stable and reliable framework for mod developers to create and customize game modifications.
Note: Make a backup of existing saves on the server.
Note: Access to installing Forge via the JAR Menu is limited to servers with the Advanced Support addon. Alternatively, Forge can be installed manually by following the guide provided below.
Note: The server must fully start once to generate config files and folders.
How To Install Forge on a Minecraft Server (JAR Menu)
Step 1. Log in to the Multicraft panel.
Step 2. Stop the server.
Step 3. Go to the File Manager tab on the left.
Step 4. Click the All button.
Step 5. Select the Delete button.
Step 6. Confirm by clicking the Delete button.
Step 7. Return to the Home tab.
Step 8. Select the Open JAR Menu button.
Step 9. Click Forge Latest or Forge Recommended on the left.
Latest - most recent versions
Recommended - most stable versions
Step 10. Toggle the button next to Forge. Forge version 49.0.12 for Minecraft version 1.20.4 is used in this example.
Step 11. Click the Save button at the bottom.
Step 12. Start the server.
How To Install Forge on a Minecraft Server (Manual)
Step 1. Download Forge.
Step 2. Choose a version and select Installer.
Step 3. Launch the Forge installer and select Install server.
Step 4. Change the install location to a folder on the desktop.
Step 5. Click OK.
Step 6. Once finished, navigate to the folder on the desktop.
Step 7. Depending on the version, rename forge-[version].jar
to:
Minecraft 1.6.4-1.16.x - custom.jar
Minecraft 1.17-1.20.2 - Do not rename.
Minecraft 1.20.3+ - customjava17.jar
Step 8. Select all files. Right-click and choose Send to>Compressed (zipped) folder.
Step 9. Minimize the file to use later in the guide.
Step 10. Log in to the Multicraft panel.
Step 11. Stop the server.
Step 12. Go to the File Manager tab on the left.
Step 13. Click the All button.
Step 14. Select the Delete button.
Step 15. Confirm by clicking the Delete button.
Step 16. Select the Upload button.
Step 17. Drag and drop the .zip
file from Step 9.
Step 18. Mark the checkbox beside the .zip
file.
Step 19. Select the More button and click Unarchive.
Step 20. Confirm by clicking the Unarchive button.
Step 21. Return to the Home tab.
Step 22. Select the Open JAR Menu button.
Step 23. Click Custom on the left.
Step 24. Depending on the version, toggle the button next to:
Minecraft 1.6.4-1.16.x - Custom.jar
Minecraft 1.17-1.20.2 - Custom Forge 1.17+
Minecraft 1.20.3+ - Custom Java 17
Step 25. Click the Save button at the bottom.
Step 26. Start the server.
