Elytra are one of the most exciting items<\/a> in Minecraft, but they are not easily obtained. At least, not without a lot of invested time! So, today we explore how to find Elytra in Minecraft so that you can take to the skies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1, Preparation<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
\"How<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

To obtain an Elytra you will first have to beat the game. This means quite a bit of preparing as the Ender Dragon<\/a> is in your way. Equip yourself with good armor, preferably diamond, bring along plenty of food, weapons, and a pickaxe, and don\u2019t forget ender pearls to explore distant end islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, players will need at least eight eyes of ender crafted using blaze powder and ender pearls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2, Locating the End Portal:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Strongholds house the end portal and are found by tossing an eye of ender into the air and following where it goes. Don\u2019t forget to pick it up afterward! Once inside the stronghold, navigate through its twisted halls<\/a> until you find the End Portal frame. There you will place your eyes of ender to activate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3, Defeating the Ender Dragon:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Jump into the End Portal and you\u2019ll arrive in The End. Here, you will come face to face with the Ender Dragon who needs to be defeated before the real adventure begins. Destroy all the Ender Crystals on top of the obsidian pillars to stop them from healing the dragon. This is done with arrows or by towering up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once they\u2019re gone, take down the dragon with bows, melee weapons, and even beds<\/a> if this is a speedrun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 4, Locating the End Gateway Portal:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

After defeating the Ender Dragon, a portal with a single block space will appear nearby. It will be surrounded by bedrock with a floating Ender Pearl shape in its center. Once found, throw an Ender Pearl inside to teleport to the outer part of the end where End Cities are found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 5, Find an End City:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Navigating the outer reaches of the end is never easy! However, ender pearls and blocks for bridging will eventually get you to an End City. For those unfamiliar with their generation, look for tall purpur block<\/a> structures and floating ships. They will mark your destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please keep in mind Elytra only generate within the end ship. If the city has no ship, continue searching for one that does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 6, locating an Elytra:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Once in the End City, search for the floating ship mentioned above. Onboard, you will find the Elytra inside the ship\u2019s treasure room. It sits on the wall in an item frame guarded by a Shulker<\/a> that will first have to be slain. Simply right-click or tap on the item frame to grab your Elytra and head back outside to fly!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Find Elytra in Minecraft<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With your new Elytra, head back to the portal from which you arrived. Now back in the overworld, enjoy it all from high in the sky. But don\u2019t forget Elytra are not unbreakable. Use the Mending and Unbreaking enchantments to extend their longevity. Happy travels!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
