Minecraft has been involved in its fair share of controversies and is even banned in some countries. However, when it comes to international coverage,<\/a> one Minecraft project stands far above the rest. Today we explore the most controversial map in Minecraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a building of white marble blocks<\/a> down a road of elegant trees is a library filled with Minecraft books that players can read. Their contents are dangerous depending on where one lives, and possession of this map can be a serious legal offense. So, what do the books actually contain?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Uncensored Library houses multiple wings, each for countries where there is no (or lacking) freedom of the press. There, players can find and read completely uncensored reporting from those countries, detailing everything from unjust punishments to discussions on censorship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Venturing further, one will also find a room<\/a> dedicated to how the pandemic impacted reporting, a wing on the creators, and a large central room containing the press freedom index. This index details the current state of press freedom in every country on Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who Made the Most Controversial Map in Minecraft<\/h3>\n\n\n

The Uncensored Library was made by a group called Reporters Without Borders<\/a> alongside Blockworks, DDB Berlin, and Mediamonks and released on March 12, 2020. Their hopes were for the map to circumvent censorship in countries without freedom of the press. To this day, it remains available for download and even has a public server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reporters Without Borders have created an official website for The Uncensored Library, found here.<\/a> On the home page, all the latest updates to the library are listed alongside a map download. For group visits, players can also join the official Uncensored Library server using the IP \u201cvisit.uncensoredlibrary.com\u201d on Minecraft 1.14.4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
