With the swap over from snapshots to pre-release updates, these will no longer be released every Wednesday, and they&#8217;ll focus more on bug fixes and optimization than new features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So without further adieu, let&#8217;s jump right into all of the latest Minecraft 1.20 patch notes courtesy of the pre-release 1 update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Minecraft 1.20 Pre-Release 1 Update<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The first pre-release is here, but what does it bring to the table?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"288\" src=\"https:\/\/www.meloncube.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/minecraft-1.20-pre-release-1-512x288.jpg\" alt=\"minecraft 1.20 pre release 1 cherry blossoms\" class=\"wp-image-384\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.meloncube.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/minecraft-1.20-pre-release-1-512x288.jpg 512w, https:\/\/www.meloncube.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/minecraft-1.20-pre-release-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.meloncube.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/minecraft-1.20-pre-release-1.jpg 637w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Patch Notes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CHANGES<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Colored Wool, Carpets and Beds can now be dyed to any other color<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TECHNICAL CHANGES<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Added new damage types:&nbsp;outside_border&nbsp;and&nbsp;generic_kill<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Random sequences for loot tables are now deterministic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Changes in&nbsp;server.properties&nbsp;encoding<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>string&nbsp;data sources for the&nbsp;data&nbsp;command now accept negative boundaries, which are interpreted as index counted from the end of the string<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DAMAGE TYPES<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Players outside the world border are now hurt by the damage type&nbsp;outside_border&nbsp;instead of&nbsp;in_wall<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Forcibly removing an entity using i.e. the&nbsp;\/kill&nbsp;command now uses damage type&nbsp;generic_kill&nbsp;instead of&nbsp;out_of_world<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">LOOT TABLE RANDOM SEQUENCES<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The game now uses named random sequences to deterministically produce loot for loot tables. Each random sequence produces a unique sequence based on the world seed and sequence ID, which means a loot table will produce the same results when ran with the same parameters in the same world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ID of the random sequence to use for a loot table is specified in a new field called&nbsp;random_sequence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SERVER.PROPERTIES<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>File is now read in UTF-8 initially, with previous encoding (ISO 8859-1\/Latin 1) as a fallback<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>File is now written with UTF-8 encoding<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bug Fixes In Minecraft 1.20 Pre-Release 1<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When reaching the other side of a nether portal the animation plays forever until stepped out of<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encoding errors in server.properties<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Several realms strings are untranslatable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Breaking animation is one frame off<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Placing an end crystal when entering The End prevents Ender Dragon from spawning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When entering spectator mode while standing on the ground, the player moves down by 0.19051 blocks, which makes you fall down<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The &#8220;Include entities:&#8221; string displayed within the structure block GUI is improperly capitalized<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;datapacks&#8221; string is inconsistent with &#8220;data pack&#8221; string in &#8220;datapackFailure.title&#8221; text<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Options background texture does not match dirt texture<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00a0Incorrect use of colon in options.hideMatchedNames.tooltip<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leash knot subtitles are not properly capitalized<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The &#8220;Light as a Rabbit&#8221; advancement description has no space after the ellipsis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lightning bolt related string lacks capitalization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Company names are still inconsistent and partly misspelled in the credits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gamerule description strings within the world creation menu consist of inconsistent concluding punctuation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Game mode is sometimes referred to as &#8220;gamemode&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some chiseled bookshelf interaction subtitles are improperly capitalized<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Melon and Pumpkin are in the default &#8216;#maintains_farmland&#8217;
