Today we go over the new features found in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meloncube.net\/blog\/how-to-install-minecraft-snapshots\/\">snapshot 23W04A,<\/a> the changes made to smithing, and how you too can give this exciting snapshot a try.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Smithing Templates<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sentry Armor Trim Template: Pillager Outpost<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dune Armor Trim Template: Desert Pyramid<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coast Armor Trim Template: Shipwreck<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wild Armor Trim Template: Jungle Temple<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tide Armor Trim Template: Ocean Monument<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ward Armor Trim Template: Ancient City<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vex Armor Trim Template: Woodland Mansion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rib Armor Trim Template: Nether Fortress<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Snout Armor Trim Template: Bastion Remnant<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Netherite Upgrade Template: Bastion Remnant<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eye Armor Trim Template: Stronghold<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spire Armor Trim Template: End City<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Smithing templates are a new item being introduced in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meloncube.net\/blog\/minecraft-1-20-all-features-announced-since-minecraft-live\/\">Minecraft 1.20.<\/a> They are found throughout the world and are required for armor trims and upgrading diamond gear to netherite. At this time, 11 trim templates have been added, with a 12<sup>th<\/sup> for upgrading diamond to netherite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Smithing Changes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Snapshot 23w04a with experimental armor trims, smithing table redesign, netherite upgrading changes, enchanted glint tweaks and many great tools for resource pack makers. Otherwise, the process remains about the same! Simply place the armor on the smithing table, then the template, and finally, your netherite ingot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be warned! For example, using diamond as the third material will cause a diamond trim. First, open the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots in the \u2018Installations\u2019 tab. Second, click \u201cNew Installation,\u201d select \u201cLatest Snapshot\u201d in the drop-down menu, and then click create. The new snapshot installation will now be a selectable option before clicking play!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, significant content updates such as snapshot 23W04A require a few extra steps. Once loaded into the game, click \u201cCreate New World,\u201d select \u201cDatapacks,\u201d and enable \u201cbundle\u201d and \u201cupdate_1_20\u201d before clicking \u201cCreate New World\u201d again.
